Aion 2, a next-generation MMORPG developed by NCsoft, boasts a map 36 times larger than its predecessor and retains the series' classic wings and flight mechanics, allowing players to make the skies their primary battlefield and achieve truly seamless 3D aerial exploration and tactical combat.
Recently, Aion 2 has officially confirmed its global free-to-play open beta launch on October 5th, and a Founder's Pack has been released on Steam, allowing players to access the servers early, starting September 30th.
This news has most excited players who have been struggling with IP restrictions and those enthusiastic about new MMORPGs. Discussions within the player community mainly focus on whether the Founder's Pack is worth having and whether Aion 2 is worth experiencing before its global launch.

Founder's Pack
The official Founder's Pack is divided into three tiers, each including a 5-day early access period. The main differences lie in the price and included rewards:
| Version | Price | Rewards |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $24.99 | Daeva's Campaign Supply Chest, Unique Title - Vanguard of Atreia |
| Deluxe | $49.99 | All Standard Edition content, Ascended Daeva Skin Set, Weapon Skin: Eternal Sun |
| Ultimate | $99.99 | All Standard and Deluxe rewards, Daeva's Styling Chest (Bound), Moonlit Aria Skin Set, Black Dragon (Pet), Blazing Sun Wings (Bound) |
More importantly, in response to community demand, a subsequent update added an extra 30 days of early access to each tier!
Is It Worth It?
For veteran Aion players and those who enjoy MMORPGs, Founder's Pack may be more appealing.
Because Aion 2 is more than just a brand-new MMORPG; it carries the memories of aerial combat, racial conflict, and massively multiplayer online worlds for many players.
Early access to the servers means they can familiarize themselves with the game environment sooner, secure character names, explore new maps, and experience the evolution of this classic IP in the new era.
However, for ordinary players without an Aion obsession who simply want to try a new MMORPG, subscribing to Founder's Pack early may not be necessary. After all, Aion 2 will launch its free open beta on October 5th, allowing players to quickly experience the core content without paying.
Compared to traditional MMORPGs that rely on ground exploration and dungeon progression, one of Aion 2's biggest features is its enhanced flight system, making the skies a crucial space for combat and exploration.
Add to that the stunning visuals delivered by Unreal Engine 5 and the larger player ecosystem provided by global servers, and this game certainly has the potential to challenge the current MMORPG market landscape.
So, is it worth it for players to experience it early across servers? In my opinion, yes.
Excellent Combat Experience
In the early stages of Aion 2's international release, many players worried it would continue the problems of traditional MMORPGs, including combat pacing, pay-to-win mechanics, and P2W elements.
However, some players who had already tried the game reported in the community that the combat system was smoother than expected, especially maintaining good responsiveness even in high-latency environments. This rekindled the interest of some previously skeptical veteran players.
Especially with the addition of an aerial combat system, players can utilize three-dimensional space for pursuit, evasion, and team coordination, making combat no longer confined to ground-based skill rotations.
For players eager to experience a new generation of MMORPG combat, this more responsive and strategic combat system is a key reason why Aion 2 is worth exploring in advance.

Aerial Combat System
Compared to most MMORPGs on the market, Aion 2 establishes its unique character through its distinctive sky-based battlefield design.
Players can not only freely explore a vast map but also engage in pursuit, evasion, and team combat in the air. For MMORPG enthusiasts, this breakthrough in traditional 2D combat is a rare experience, and a key feature distinguishing Aion 2 from established titles like WoW and FF14.
Early access to the servers means players can familiarize themselves with the game controls, explore the skies, and experience unique aerial combat early on the global server launch.
Therefore, even though the value of Founder's Pack remains controversial, Aion 2 is still worth paying attention to for players eager to try the next generation of MMORPGs.
Optimized International Server
Thanks to the experience gained from regional Aion 2 servers, the international server has been adjusted, such as optimizing the experience by changing the party size for normal dungeons to 5 players and raids to 10 players; and improving some mechanics to better cater to the needs of overseas players.
This is primarily reflected in the addition of a PvP toggle option in the international server. This change stems from the fact that previous servers retained the initial forced PvP, leading to frequent attacks on players focused on PvE, story, or casual gameplay while exploring the open world and completing quests, resulting in a poor gaming experience.
This caused considerable controversy within the player community at the time.
Now, during the early stages of the game, when you lack sufficient Aion 2 Items and resources to upgrade your strength, you can disable PvP in major cities or safe zones, and then re-enable it once you have the strength to face your enemies.
In summary, based on current player community feedback, the core reasons why Aion 2 is worth experiencing early are mainly threefold:
- Unique aerial combat gameplay and a three-dimensional exploration experience;
- Meeting the needs of diverse players;
- Learning from experience and optimizing in advance;
Therefore, overall, the biggest unknown about Aion 2 is not a lack of appeal, but whether NCsoft can prove through the international server that it can maintain a fair, stable, and competitive MMORPG ecosystem in the long term.
The community's response is sufficient; the remaining question is whether it can meet players' expectations.
